Who am I?
My name is Jan Suomi and I’m a Swedish-speaking Finn living in Piteå, Sweden. I live up here, some 300km south of the polar circle, together with my wife Susanne Suomi, our 3 year old daughter Elina and our two dogs Nemi and Fira.

Where do I come from?
I grew up in Turku, an old and beautiful city in southern Finland. I spent my first 16 years there before going to a vocational school for 3 years in Karjaa (small town about halfway between Turku and Helsinki). I received my degree as an electronics assembler in 2002 and moved back home. I started studying for BS in computer science at Åbo Akademi, but found myself a job offer in Sweden and hence moved to Piteå, Sweden, in November 2006.

What do I do for work?
I work as a developer at an internet marketing company called Klikki. Most of my time is spent building different Excel templates for various reports and tools. If there’s still some time left over after from the Excel projects it quickly gets spent on PHP and Drupal projects.
