What’s wrong with the Google Webmaster Central Blog?
Got a weird surprise today when I was catching up on the nights posts via google reader. The feed from Google Webmaster Central Blog had a bunch of photos, which turned out to be the flickr feed of the user nismo334.
I wonder what happened… did feedburner screw it up? Did google reader get confused and syndicate the wrong feed?
Nevertheless, here’s a screenshot of the cock-up.
Soft 404′s and Caffeine (+ some other findings)
I just finished reading up on the news I’ve missed, even found a few interesting tidbits I thought I’d post about.
Google webmaster tools now can show “soft 404” crawl errors – that’s a page not found, but without the correct response code.
Also a second Google-thingy, their new search index called “caffeine” which should be serving fresher content instead of the layered kind we are used to. First thing which comes to my mind is: how will this affect SEO?
I also saw a nice post on SEOmoz about Google vs Bing and a correlation analysis of the ranking elements. An interesting read, if you don’t have too much work to do.
